Runnin' Riot have been the leading lights of the local scene for well over 10 years now which is a testament to their determination, hard work and popularity! All those years of sweat and graft have paid off handsomely as we see the band reach their zenith on Boots & Ballads. 11 hard, fast, anthemic Oi tunes with catchy-as-fuck singalong choruses kicking off with the mighty Lost Generation and ending on a high with 16 On The Dole. Tales of mindless violence, alcoholism, gluesniffin', unemployment and community breakdown are played with passion and aplomb, with Colin's gruff vocals complimented nicely by Marty's razor sharp guitar licks, Ralph's throbbing basslines and Dan's pounding drums. This is a band really on top of their game and totally comfortable in their own skin. You'd be hard pressed to find a better oi! / streetpunk album than this, anywhere! Very hard to pick an out and out favourite track as its all killer no filler, but if pushed Double The Pain would just edge it! Oh, before I forget, there's a bonus track too - just in case you miss it, like I did on first listen. You have to wait a minute (or two) after track 11 (16 On The Dole) has ended then we get an extra wee treat in the form of Oi Oi Angel which is fucking superb. If the Rezillos did Oi! this is what they'd sound like! Cushla's backing vocal sounds uncannily like Fay Fife on this tune.
